!?The Supremo Court suit of John Horey against the estate of Daniel Pettibone, which was several months ago tried in this place before Hon. Wm. H. Baker, Referee (Wm. Sanders for plantiff, D.L. Wilder for defendant), has just been decided in favor of the estate. It will be remembered that the late Ann Cummingham, a servant for many years of Daniel Pettibone, upon his death made out a claim against the estate for about $5,000 for services, etc. She had taken up her residence at the house of John Horey, and just before her death transferred her alleged claim to him. But the defense produced receipts from Ann Cunningham to Daniel Pettibone in full of all demands, and other convincing evidence to the Court that no such claim was owing to plaintiff. This decision throws costs to the amount of nearly two hundred dollars on Horey ? which from present appearences, the Pettibone estate will likely have to settle. [2]
