    • It appears the family did not all travel at once to the United States. It may have been the father sends money back to Ireland as he earns it for the others to travel on after him. That?s a question I can?t answer at this point.

Immigrants escaping the Great Famine too poor to travel any other way were cramped into converted cargo spaces . During the Great Famine of 1845-1852 a million people died, another million immigrated. An Irish Nationalist, John Mitchell, wrote of their plight and spoke much and often about the government differing about feeding the Irish people but, ?they agree most cordially in the policy of taxing, prosecuting and ruining them?. • A supplemental schedule to the 1880 US Census declares Margaret Mulholland of North Bay , Oneida County, NY is a self-supporting deaf female who has attended Washington Heights Institute for three years and became deaf at the age of thirteen.

Margaret did not become deaf until she was thirteen, therefore her cost for the three years would have been nine hundred dollars; a high price to pay for an Irish immigrant laborer with a family and a house worth forty dollars in 1855, but not out of the question for a Hotel owner and a Sand Lord. • I ?googled? Toledo State Hospital. There is a movement underway called the Cemetery Reclamation Project set up to recover the markers and the positions of the markers that represent the people that were buried at the Hospital?s grave yards. As of the writing of the article I was reading on the website toledostatehospital.org there were 1,994 unclaimed women, children and men buried in graves marked only with a small stone with a number.

Someone claimed Margaret?s body and brought it back to Cleveland where she is buried. [2]
